“The LPGA Tour’s Southwest swing continues this week, as the tour heads to the bustling city of Los Angeles.”. This year’s event marks the 9th playing of the championship since its inauguration in 2018. Past Champions of the event include notables such as Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, and back-to-back champion Hannah Green. This year’s field features 15 of the top 25 ladies in the Role Women’s Golf World Rankings as well as 10 Los Angeles area natives.

The tournament returns to the esteemed El Caballero Country Club for the second consecutive year. Located in Los Angeles, the club has long been known for its celebrity membership, with names like Justin Timberlake, Tom Brady, and Adam Sandler among those tied to the property.

Yet beyond its star power, the course itself offers far more substance. Designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Senior, the course remains one of the best in California. In 2021, the course underwent a much needed renovation that restored some of Jones’ most historic design elements, while adapting them to fit the modern game. Wider fairways, and jagged bunkers were two of the biggest successors of the redesign.
Measuring just over 6,600 yards, the par-72 layout rewards both accuracy and length off of the tee.

Last year’s tournament delivered plenty of fireworks, as 25-year-old Ingrid Lindblad fired a 4-under 68 to capture her first LPGA Tour title in just her third start. Akie Iwai and Lauren Coughlin were both within a stroke of Lindblad on the last, but a pair of bogeys allowed Lindblad to walk away victorious.
