It was a bit of a slow news day as we await a great week in competitive golf. The golf week started early this morning, as 48 of the top 50 amateur’s in the women’s game teed off at Champion’s Retreat Golf Club in the first round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. You can find first round coverage on Golf Channel from 1:30-3:30.

In other women’s golf news, Michelle Wie announced she will be competing in this year’s US Open. It’s Wie’s first US Open since she retired in 2023 to focus on her family. The return comes mainly in part due to the location of this year’s open; Riviera Country Club, an iconic venue near and dear to Wie’s heart.
In opposite news, Tiger Woods announced he will be stepping away from the game, focusing on his health after yet another car accident. It’s a shame to see as many saw next week’s Masters as a possible return for Woods. Yet, health remains his number one issue, and I hope he can get the help he needs.

Lastly, Tuesday saw yet another withdraw for Collin Morikawa, who’s Masters hope seem in question. Morikawa hasn’t competed since a back injury on a practice swing saw his Player’s hopes end on his 2nd hole.
